"How do you get a nice bottom? was the subject of the "Allô docteurs" programme on France 5 on Thursday 31 May. The programme, presented by Michel Cymès and Marina Carrère d'Encausse, included a report on buttock implant surgery at the Clinique de l'Alma. You can replay the report here.

With an operation performed in less than an hour, buttock surgery (gluteoplasty) is an increasingly popular procedure in Europe. The aim of this outpatient operation is to reshape the body.

For this surgery, Dr François Petit, cosmetic surgeon at the Clinique l'Alma, presented a 23-year-old patient with a complex about her flat buttocks.

Once the patient is asleep, the surgeon makes an incision on each buttock to allow the buttock implants to be inserted.
Before installing the implants, the surgeon makes room between the gluteus maximus and the pyramidal muscle. This avoids cutting tissue that just needs to be moved. Finally, the silicone gel implants are inserted and fitted.

As soon as she wakes up, the patient can stand. Following buttock surgery, recovery is rapid: seven days before returning to normal life.
